Veterans Post partners with
Community Foundation
WATERLOO, March 21, 2012
– The Waverly Area Veterans Post has established a fund with
the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa. The Waverly Area
Veterans Post is planning to build a joint veterans center for
the Waverly AMVETS, American Legion, VFW and Marine Corps League
veteran posts. The fund was established to collect donations
from donors required to give through a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt
entity, such as donations coming from private foundations.
“There are many donors out there who are limited to giving to
a 501(c)(3) tax exempt entity. Having a special fund for Waverly
Area Veterans Post gifts within the Community Foundation provides
a new dimension to our fundraising efforts,” said Jim Beam,
Chairman of the Waverly Area Veterans Post. “This opportunity
with the Community Foundation is one the Waverly Area Veterans
Post is very excited about.”
A gift to the fund at the Community Foundation will satisfy
all the requirements the donor must meet (giving to a 501(c)(3))
and allow the gift to be credited to the Waverly Area Veterans
Post.
Donations to the Veterans Post Fund at the Community Foundation
can be made online at www.cfneia.org or mailed to Community
Foundation of Northeast Iowa, Waverly Area Veterans Post, P.O.
Box 1176, Waterloo, IA 50704.
The Waverly Area Veterans Post is registered as a 501(c)(19)
tax-exempt entity. General donations from the public are being
accepted with a separate fund for those not required to give
through a 501(c)(3). A pledge form is available on the Waverly
Area Veterans Post website at www.waverlyvets.us. General donations
from the public can be mailed to the Waverly Area Veterans Post
at P.O. Box 454, Waverly, IA 50677.
If the project is not completed by February 2015, funds received
through the fund at the Community Foundation will be redirected
to other charitable activities of the Waverly Area Veterans
Post or honored as required by Terms of Grants received.
The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, serving Black
Hawk County and 27 affiliate counties and communities, is a
permanent public charity built by donations from individuals,
families, organizations and businesses. For over 55 years, Cedar
Valley residents have been turning to the Community Foundation
to help their community. For more information, contact (319)
